Hey, team. Been a minute. I hope this post finds you (well). Let me give you a quick update:
I spent most of last year building my law firm (Margolis PLLC). Things are pretty good (knock on wood), so I can finally get back on the saddle and shoot out snarky legal commentary and silly news.
Point Two is now powered by Margolis PLLC. What does this mean? Good question.
I’m debating moving Point Two from Substack to our new Margolis PLLC website (you’re the first to know about the new website…confidential and privileged blah blah blah).
Now that we handled the housekeeping, let’s jump in.
Joint Report Regarding Lunch
Let me set the table for you here: defense counsel asked for more time to respond to the complaint, citing the upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving). Plaintiff’s counsel did not agree to the extension, so an opposed motion for extension of time was filed.
The Court was, well, not thrilled by the dispute.
The Court wanted one thing: the attorneys from both sides to sit down, break bread, and talk. And while I thought a Motion to Compel Lunch at Chipotle was inevitable, the parties quickly complied.
After lunch, the attorneys filed a “Joint Report Regarding Lunch” (lol). It has everything:
Saw’s BBQ;
Defense counsel tipping 100%;
A discussion about “everyone’s small town bona fides.”
Big props to the judge and attorneys here. Hope this never happens to me, but if it does, I’ve got a template in my back pocket and a menu from the best sushi place in town.
